A highly regarded law firm
Apply in confidence →An expanding regulatory healthcare advisory team at a leading national law firm is seeking a solicitor with inquest and/or healthcare advisory experience to join its practice. The team advises a broad range of organisations and individuals on regulatory matters and proceedings across the health and social care sector, acting for providers, commissioners, care homes, regulators and local authorities.
The wider team handles inquests, general healthcare advice, Court of Protection applications, Mental Health Tribunals, and other regulatory challenges, including defending prosecutions brought by regulators and advising on consent and confidentiality, capacity and best interests, and discharge processes. Lawyers may focus on inquests, on advisory work, or a mix, and there is scope to support clients beyond a core caseload, including on secondments.
This role is open to applicants nationally, and some travel may be required. Depending on focus, duties involve managing a caseload of files, attending inquest hearings and advocacy at pre-inquest reviews and inquests, or handling a mixed advisory caseload that may include Court of Protection work for providers and commissioners nationwide, alongside client and witness meetings in preparation.
- Qualified solicitor with 1–10 years' PQE
- Previous experience and a genuine, demonstrable interest in healthcare regulatory or inquest work
- Willingness to develop advocacy skills, whether in inquests, the Court of Protection or more widely
- Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills
- Strong collaborative team-working ability and capacity to work on own initiative
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets
- Desirable: regulatory defence and/or advocacy experience
