This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity within a leading law firm's General Counsel's Office, working as part of a client contracts and commercial team. You will play a key role in strengthening client relationships by delivering robust, commercial contract solutions across the firm.

Reporting into the General Counsel's Office, you will partner with colleagues across all practice groups to ensure client-facing contracts are compliant, commercially sound, and aligned with the firm's wider risk and strategic objectives. The role offers exposure to high-value, cross-firm decision-making, as well as emerging technologies and AI-related work.

Based in Birmingham or Manchester (other UK offices may be considered), this role operates on a hybrid basis with three days per week in the office.

We are looking for a qualified solicitor with typically 3+ years' PQE (though all suitable experience will be considered) and the following:

Strong academic background and qualification as a solicitor
People management experience
Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts; in-house law firm experience is desirable
Sharp analytical skills and the ability to deliver practical, accessible advice
Confidence operating in unfamiliar or complex subject areas
Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple matters at pace
Sound judgment, resilience, and a calm, professional approach under pressure
Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
A collaborative mindset with the confidence to work autonomously when needed
An interest in legal technology and improving contract processes
