A leading international law firm

Apply in confidence →

An established national law firm is seeking an experienced competition lawyer to join its growing Competition, Regulatory & Trade team. The role offers the chance to work on complex, high-profile and strategic competition matters for a broad range of UK and international clients, with additional opportunities to support on a diverse range of regulatory work.

The team operates national service lines and works on the basis that the best-placed lawyer supports the client, so your client base is not limited by geography. The role can be based in Manchester, London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol or Birmingham, with the benefit of a flexible, hybrid working approach.

As an integral member of the team, you can expect to advise on a wide range of antitrust matters — from merger control work to market and targeted investigations and disputes, as well as behavioural advice, compliance training and associated support. You will also undertake National Security and Investment Act analyses and notifications, contribute to business development and client care initiatives, and work as part of a cross-office collegiate team, including assisting with the supervision of more junior lawyers.

The team advises top-tier corporate clients and Government departments, and is consistently recognised among the leading practices in its field.

  • Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered, or equivalent) with circa 5–10 years' PQE; applications outside this range welcome where the required skills and expertise are demonstrated.
  • Good level of experience across two or more areas of the antitrust spectrum, including merger control, competition investigations, disputes, compliance programmes, behavioural advice, and National Security and Investment Act analyses and notifications.
  • Broader regulatory experience (e.g. consumer protection investigations and/or the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act), or a willingness to multi-skill, would be valuable.
  • First-class communication skills, with the ability and confidence to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • A proven track record in business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of clients' businesses and objectives, acting in the best interests of both the firm and the client.
  • Committed to a friendly, collaborative culture, with ambition to assist in the development of junior team members.
