Solicitor - Civil Claims - Manchester

An established and growing national team specialising in police-related litigation is seeking a Solicitor to join its civil claims sub-team. The role involves handling claims on behalf of police forces across the UK, often on sensitive and high-profile matters, within a specialist area that has seen sustained success and expansion.

The position offers a varied caseload covering personal injury, false imprisonment, assault, negligence, employer's and public liability, as well as claims involving data protection, the Equality Act and the Human Rights Act. There will also be opportunities to contribute to complex Article 2 inquests and public inquiries.

Based in Manchester with hybrid working (1–2 days per week in the office), the role includes occasional travel to London and nationally for client meetings, court hearings and related activities. The team provides excellent scope for development in a unique and highly specialised field of law, with full training and support available.

• Qualified solicitor or CILEX equivalent, with experience managing a caseload of civil claims on behalf of police forces across the UK.
• Demonstrable civil litigation experience and a strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
• Ability to manage a varied caseload with appropriate supervision and support senior colleagues on complex matters.
• Strong organisational skills, effective prioritisation and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and high standards of written and verbal communication.
• A proactive, collaborative approach and the confidence to use initiative and take ownership of tasks.
• Genuine enthusiasm for litigation and a willingness to develop technical expertise through ongoing training.
• Desirable: interest in or exposure to police claims work and experience in data protection litigation.
