Day-to-day work is contractual. Candidates who stick come from government-contracts and supply-chain counsel at primes, commercial counsel at launch and satellite manufacturers, and in-house lawyers who have already held a facility clearance. Of the same cohort, Sartori cannot see how a pure commercial counsel will hold a classified production ramp.

Our Los Angeles in-house counter-offer incidence is 27 percent. A chief legal officer at a listed satellite manufacturer said the seat needed someone who had already lived through a Space Force production ramp. The employer map is South Bay: Hermeus at 888 North Douglas Street in El Segundo, Boeing Space Mission Systems and Millennium Space Systems on East El Segundo Boulevard, Northrop Grumman at Space Park in Redondo Beach, Rocket Lab and Relativity Space and Vast in Long Beach, SpaceX in Hawthorne, Impulse Space in Redondo Beach, and RTX at 2000 East Imperial Highway.
The Los Angeles Times reported in April 2026 that Hermeus took 67,000 square feet for headquarters, would employ more than 200 people in Southern California the following year, and that El Segundo counts more than 40 aerospace and tech companies with headquarters or major operations. Commercial Observer, citing Savills, put the same 888 North Douglas Street lease at 62,552 square feet in April 2026; both figures describe the former Northrop Grumman site, and we do not average them. LAEDC's 18 August 2025 briefing counted 58,731 Aerospace Vehicles and Defense jobs in Los Angeles County, an average wage of $141,110, a location quotient of 2.9, and cluster employment change of +2.9 percent from 2022 through 2024.
Commercial Observer reported in August 2026 that Los Angeles County took the most direct Department of Defense contracts in the United States in 2025, with $8.9 billion in federal funding to Greater Los Angeles.
