There is no Copenhagen-only salary page. The cash figures that exist are national, and they are occupation codes, not job titles. Statistics Denmark's earnings release of 29 September 2026 states that standard monthly earnings equal standard hourly earnings multiplied by 160.33, on a 37-hour week. The hourly figure includes base pay, qualification and individual allowances, pension, holiday pay, employee benefits, nuisance bonuses and irregular payments such as one-off payments and bonus. It excludes overtime and absence pay. Table LONS20, updated the same day, reports 2025 results for salaried employees, all employee groups, in enterprises and organizations. Advocate work, DISCO 2611, averaged DKK 81,994 a month across 4,424 full-time equivalents. Other legal work, DISCO 2619, averaged DKK 73,474 a month across 5,939 full-time equivalents. Partners and the self-employed are outside the wage statistics. The 4,424 full-time equivalents in advocate work are employees inside that table. They are not the 7,626 active advokater, a count that includes partners and, inside the capital circuit, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. DISCO 2611 is mostly law-firm employees. DISCO 2619 is the closer published proxy for company lawyers, and it still mixes roles.
The same table publishes the median as an hourly figure, not a monthly one. For that 2025 salaried, enterprises cut, the median standard hourly earnings were DKK 494.76 for advocate work and DKK 430.48 for other legal work. Statistics Denmark converts a standard hour to a month by multiplying by 160.33. Applied to those medians, and rounded to the krone, that is DKK 79,325 and DKK 69,019. Read them as the middle of a national employee distribution. Do not read DKK 69,019 as the offer for a listed-company general counsel in Copenhagen.
A second source sits higher because it is a different population. Djøf Privat's 2025 salary survey, reported by Djøfbladet on 5 January 2026, covers pay in September 2025 including pension and bonus, with bonus entered as one-twelfth of the prior year's payment. Among private-sector members without people-management responsibility, the median for an employed advokat was DKK 85,790 a month. The survey had 7,148 graduate respondents in total. That median is not a Copenhagen in-house band, and it is not comparable with the Statistics Denmark average without saying which population is which.
Tax changes the conversation in 2026, and the thresholds are public. Skatteforvaltningen's rates table, updated 24 August 2026, sets the labor-market contribution at 8 percent and bottom-bracket tax at 12.01 percent. From 2026, personal income above DKK 641,200 after the labor-market contribution pays mellemskat at 7.5 percent. Income above DKK 777,900 after that contribution pays topskat at a further 7.5 percent. Income above DKK 2,592,700 pays toptopskat at 5 percent. Municipal tax sits on top. A package negotiated in gross kroner has to be tested against those brackets. A dollar band copied from a US offer does not survive the test.

Use them to see how a package is built. Use LONS20 and the Djøf median for Danish cash. The retained fee is not a salary. It is 25–30 percent of the hire's total first-year compensation. Thirty percent of that fee is paid when the search is engaged, and it is kept if the client cancels. A GC, CLO or CCO search carries a 12-month replacement term. Other in-house searches carry 6 months. Off-limits on the client's legal department run 24 months, and a lawyer we have placed is not approached for as long as they stay.
