Counsel, Labor & Employment — Los Angeles, CA

National law firm seeks a Counsel to join its Labor & Employment group in the Los Angeles office. The role centers on defending employers in individual and representative employment disputes and providing day-to-day counseling on federal and California employment laws.

Typical matters include discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage & hour (including PAGA), reasonable accommodation disputes, and class-action defense. The position requires handling matters from intake through resolution, drafting pleadings and motions, taking and defending depositions, and advising clients on compliance and risk mitigation.

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active California bar membership.
• Approximately 9–12 years of relevant labor & employment experience.
• Substantial defense experience in single-plaintiff litigation and familiarity with PAGA and class-action matters.
• Proven ability to manage cases independently from intake to resolution, including drafting pleadings, discovery, dispositive and discovery motions.
• Experience taking and defending depositions and providing employment counseling on federal and state law.
• Strong legal research and writing skills; solid academic record. A smaller portable book is a plus but not required.
