A leading US law firm
Apply in confidence →This remains an active confidential partner search. The mandate is reviewed on a rolling basis with the client, and the detail below reflects the current brief.
Opportunity: A national law firm is seeking a lateral partner to join its Sports & Media practice, with a strategic focus on league-side and institutional client work in the sports and music sectors. The firm is deliberately pivoting away from talent-side representation and full-service entertainment work to build a more focused, scalable platform. This is an entrepreneurial role ideal for a proven practitioner who can help define and grow the practice.
Practice Areas: Sports, Media & Entertainment, Music. While the practice is primarily transactional, candidates with a strong litigation background are also encouraged to apply, as the firm currently has no litigator in this space.
Location: New York City or Los Angeles preferred; candidates must have an active US practice.
Why Join: This is a rare white-space opportunity to build and shape a practice within a collaborative, collegial partnership known for strong internal communication and cross-selling. The firm supports lateral partners with autonomy and a clear path to growth.
Required Profile:
- Lateral partner with a portable book of business and a strong client following in sports, media, or music—specifically league-side, institutional, or corporate-side representation (not talent representation).
- Strong preference for transactional experience; litigation experience is a plus.
- Must be able to work on US-based matters and have a book of business that is not conflicted with league representation (NFL, NHL, NBA).
- Entrepreneurial, autonomous, and collaborative mindset with a track record of building and growing a practice.
- Minimum portable book of business: $2M+ (USD), with higher levels preferred.
Where the match is not obvious from the description, a conversation is still worth having — these mandates flex around the right practice.
