An opportunity has arisen for a mid-level associate to join a market-leading Competition, Regulation & Trade team in London. The practice handles demanding regulatory work, competition matters and complex transactions for a broad international client base.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for planning, prioritising and delegating workstreams, keeping supervising partners and associates updated on progress, and delivering prompt, high-quality service directly to clients.

Beyond fee-earning work, the role involves contributing to the team's know-how — preparing legal precedents, articles, marketing materials and presentations — and building effective working relationships across offices and practice groups.

  • Between two and five years' post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a strong UK competition practice.
  • Regulatory experience and merger work are desirable but not essential.
  • A minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) with professional examinations passed first time; full academic details, including grades, subjects and transcripts, should be provided.
  • Strong legal skills, including complex drafting, negotiation and project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage individuals at all levels.
  • People management and business development capability.
  • Understanding of law firm profitability and cost/budget management.
  • A bright, proactive self-starter who thrives on a challenge.
