A highly regarded law firm is seeking a motivated patent professional with substantive industry experience and a degree in software, computer science, or a related field to join its busy patent counseling, prosecution, and litigation practice.

The role offers varied, hands-on work across the full patent lifecycle. Duties include conducting prior art database searches for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, analyzing patents and scientific literature to support attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation, drafting patent applications and responses to office actions, and advising lawyers on technology issues in preparation for depositions.

Broad scientific knowledge in computer science or electrical engineering is required, and expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning is strongly preferred. The position is based in Palo Alto and includes law school tuition assistance for patent agent candidates.
