A leading national public finance practice is seeking an associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its Sacramento office. The group is consistently ranked among the top bond counsel practices in the United States and has held a market-leading position in California, serving on transactions aggregating billions of dollars annually across the state.

The team handles the full spectrum of financing matters for state and local governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, investment banks, bond purchasers, developers, and other clients. Work includes municipal bonds, notes, and other obligations — tax-exempt and taxable — supporting public infrastructure and capital improvement projects, public non-capital programs, nonprofit health care, educational, cultural, and low-income housing facilities, for-profit water, wastewater, energy, and multifamily housing projects, tribal financings, IRS audits, SEC investigations and enforcement actions, secondary market repackagings, securitizations, public-private partnerships, and bankruptcies and work-outs.

A robust on-the-job training program is available, so a strong transactional background with experience in public finance, the UCC, or securities law is a plus but not required. The ideal candidate is highly motivated with outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication.

Three to six years of relevant law firm experience
Highly motivated with superior client service skills
Member of the Bar in a U.S. state and able to satisfy the requirements of the office's jurisdiction
Strong writing and communication abilities
Transactional background and experience in public finance, the UCC, or securities law a plus, but not required
