A Chambers-ranked real estate practice is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Charlotte office and take a lead role in commercial real estate finance transactions. The team advises institutional lenders, investment banks, and CMBS platforms on the origination of CMBS and CLO loans across office, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and industrial asset classes.

The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating the full suite of loan documents, overseeing due diligence, and structuring transactions to comply with rating agency criteria and securitization requirements—including ground lease treatment, cash management, and structural features. You will coordinate closings, manage transaction timelines, and liaise with clients, borrower's counsel, originators, underwriters, and securitization counsel, while handling post-closing matters and pre-securitization loan reviews.

At least 4 years of experience in real estate finance
Significant experience representing institutional lenders, investment banks, or CMBS platforms in CMBS and/or CLO loan origination
Familiarity with rating agency criteria and securitization requirements, including ground leases, cash management, and structural features
Strong academic background and excellent writing skills
North Carolina Bar admission required or ability to waive in
