A large, nationally recognised specialist regulatory practice is seeking an experienced lawyer to join its dedicated inquests team, with a strong focus on supporting and developing its presence across the South of England.

The department advises a diverse client base spanning healthcare, public sector, corporate and insurance sectors on complex, high-profile matters. This is a predominantly advocacy-based role in which you will represent police forces, other emergency services, insurers and healthcare organisations at inquests and related hearings.

You will conduct your own advocacy while being supported by dedicated file management and administrative resources, preparing written submissions, legal arguments and case strategy, and handling post-inquest matters including Prevention of Future Deaths Reports. The role also involves building strong client relationships and contributing to the development and supervision of junior lawyers.

  • Qualified Solicitor, Solicitor Advocate or Barrister with 4+ years' PQE (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant inquest experience and a strong understanding of the coronial process.
  • Ability and confidence to undertake advocacy independently.
  • Excellent organisational, time-management and client-management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across a team.
  • Willingness to supervise and support junior lawyers.
  • Desirable: experience representing emergency services or other public bodies, criminal defence advocacy, or wider regulatory, professional discipline or public law experience.
