Senior Solicitor – Professional Indemnity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Solicitor (5+ years PQE or equivalent) to join our highly regarded Specialty team. You will specialise in professional indemnity work, with experience defending claims against construction professionals or solicitors. The team handles a broad range of substantial, largely contentious matters, including defending claims against a wide variety of professional service providers, insurance policy coverage, insurance and reinsurance disputes, and construction and property damage claims.

This is a hybrid role, and we are able to consider applications across most of our office locations.

Key responsibilities:

• Proactive management of your own caseload with limited supervision
• Working as part of a team on large, complex, high-value matters
• Assisting partners with their caseloads
• Preparing detailed and technical reports, correspondence and court documents
• Delegating to junior solicitors and supporting their development
• Advising clients on issues of liability and coverage
• Liaising with insurer and insured clients, experts, witnesses, counsel and other parties
• Ensuring compliance with client service level agreements and firm policies
• Contributing to and developing business development initiatives
• Supervising and developing trainees and paralegals

About you:

• 5+ years PQE (or equivalent)
• Well-established expertise in professional indemnity, particularly construction matters, architect claims, or claims against solicitors
• Experience of insurance litigation and policy coverage analysis is essential
• Experience of professional risk claims and reserving is essential
• Understanding of commercial insurance policies, the insurance market, reporting arrangements, reserving philosophies, and the relationship between brokers, underwriters/insurers and lawyers is essential
• Previous secondment to or employment with an insurance organisation would be advantageous
• Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and manage a caseload
• Strong team working and initiative
• Commercial, solution-driven and client-focused approach with strategic ability
• Strong legal and analytical skills with an eye for detail
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills
