Join a market-leading financial professionals team in Bristol, acting for leading firms of accountants, financial advisers, pensions professionals and insolvency practitioners. The team handles high-value, complex and often international claims, encompassing court proceedings, FOS/POS referrals, and matters with a fiscal or regulatory dimension. You will also support clients facing regulatory investigations.

This is a chance to play an active role in a rapidly growing practice that works closely with other specialist teams, including professional indemnity, commercial litigation, white-collar crime and cyber. The team is ranked Tier 1 in both Legal 500 and Chambers, and is recognised as the longest-established professional negligence practice in Bristol, acting for many leading insurers and professional services firms across all key professional and financial lines.

As a Solicitor/Associate, you will defend professional indemnity claims, particularly in the financial professionals line, managing your own caseload with supervision while supporting partners on larger matters. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting pre-action and litigated matters, and assisting senior fee-earners.
  • Advising insurers on coverage across a range of policies and issues.
  • Acting as a point of contact for clients and liaising directly with experts and counsel.
  • Running disclosure exercises and drafting witness statements.
  • Reporting to insurers in line with protocols and SLAs.
  • Contributing to business development, including writing articles and delivering client training.
  • Maintaining technical knowledge and ensuring compliance with billing and credit control procedures.

We are looking for a qualified solicitor with 0–4 PQE. Previous experience in professional indemnity claims, especially financial professional claims, and advising on coverage issues is highly desirable. A genuine interest in financial professional claims and the complex technical issues they involve is essential.

  • Solid academic record at degree and CPE/LPC (or equivalent) level.
  • Good numeracy and an interest in financial, money-related and tax matters.
  • Excellent relationship and client handling skills – able to deal confidently with insured and insurer clients.
  • A reasonable level of self-sufficiency, with awareness of your own competence and authority.
  • A client-focused, commercial approach to legal issues, with strong grasp of legal principles and ability to learn quickly.
  • Change-oriented with a positive, flexible attitude; team-oriented and collaborative.
