Solicitor – Regulatory SHE

We are seeking a solicitor to join our market-leading Regulatory Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team. This is a national team advising organisations and individuals facing criminal investigation for corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter, and breaches of regulatory law related to health and safety, fire safety, food safety, and environmental law. The role also involves advising on product safety, inquests, and public inquiries. Our team of over 30 specialist lawyers operates across multiple locations and is expanding due to client and case demands.

We are interested in candidates with experience advising clients on regulatory investigations and prosecutions by the Police, HSE, Local Authorities, Fire Authorities, Environment Agency, CQC, and other regulators. Ideal experience includes inquests, witness interviews, preparing PACE submissions, and providing compliance advice.

Our clients span diverse major industries and their insurers, as well as the public sector. We handle high-profile cases with a varied and sustainable workload. You will work alongside lawyers in other practice groups, gaining exposure and building client relationships from the start. Your contribution will directly impact client outcomes.

We are part of an international firm with over 2,500 colleagues across 9 countries, supported by global associations. We are looking to strengthen the SHE team nationally, with a focus on London, the Midlands, or the South West.

• At least 2 years PQE with experience in a regulatory and/or commercially focused environment, whether in private practice or elsewhere.
• Ideally, experience advising on regulatory work including HSE/Police investigations, witness interviews, interviews under caution, prosecutions, sentencing hearings, and inquests. Experience in areas such as environmental breaches, trading standards, product safety, food safety, and fire safety would be beneficial.
• Experience in business development and building client relationships.
• Willingness to travel at short notice to assist clients on the ground as situations arise.
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and technical skills.
• Ability to manage budgets effectively in terms of both time and fee income.
• Demonstrate alignment with our firm values and professional standards.
