Pure litigation desks and national-defense ministry secondments do not convert.
A chief legal officer at a listed defense-electronics group said the seat needed someone who had already lived through a volume-manufacturing ramp. On 24 August 2026 NanoAvionics launched Gen-2 MP42 and MP42D ITAR-free buses from Vilnius, including a 500 kg-class platform for optical, SAR and SIGINT work, with further orders from KONGSBERG and undisclosed governmental customers in NATO member and ally countries. An ITAR-free European bus still needs Lithuanian dual-use and military-list licenses under EU Regulation 2021/821.

Lithuania became an ESA Associate Member on 21 May 2021 and signed the Artemis Accords on 15 May 2024. Innovation Agency figures via lithuania.lt state that ESA-program investment is to reach 14.5 million EUR from 2026 through 2028, a 62 percent increase on 2022–2025, with 44 companies applying in 2022–2025. The BBC reported on 7 July 2025 that Lithuanian defense spending sat around 3 percent of GDP and was set to rise to 5.5 percent, with Space Hub LT tying space tech to defense.
