The BRAK member statistics as of 1 January 2026, published in BRAK-Mitteilungen 3/2026, count 24,140 members of the Rechtsanwaltskammer München. Of those, 23,196 are natural persons admitted under section 60(2) no. 1 of the Federal Lawyers' Act: 18,735 admitted only as Rechtsanwalt, 3,259 dual-admitted as Rechtsanwalt and Syndikusrechtsanwalt, and 1,202 admitted only as Syndikusrechtsanwalt. The same table counts 879 professional-practice companies. Those are advocates and employed lawyers on a chamber roll that covers the Munich district, not a census of interim seats inside company legal departments. Nationally, the BRAK press note of 15 April 2026 counted 8,279 Syndikus-only admissions on the same date, up 9.15 percent from 7,585 a year earlier. Munich's 1,202 Syndikus-only lawyers sit inside that national 8,279. They are not the interim book.
Sartori & Partners maps 9,000 lawyers in Munich, inside a research map of 1,480,000+ lawyers. The buyer on this page is the legal department of an automotive group, a semiconductor company, a medtech, or a supplier, not a law-firm partnership. The employers who brief interim work are DAX issuers headquartered in the city, listed technology companies in the Munich district, and privately held life-sciences groups whose permanent bench is already on a filing. The city hub is legal recruitment in Munich.
The dated demand on the automotive slice is the battery file. Regulation (EU) 2025/1561 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 July 2025 amended Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 so that battery due-diligence obligations, which had been set for 18 August 2025, apply from 18 August 2027. The obligations cover economic operators that place batteries on the Union market and the sourcing of cobalt, natural graphite, lithium, and nickel. A general counsel who already has trademark and supply-contract counsel still has a due-diligence policy, a conformity assessment, and a reporting calendar that the permanent bench may not absorb before 18 August 2027. That is project work with an end date. It is the kind of file this interim line is built for.
A Syndikus admission does not travel with a staffing contract. Section 46 of the Federal Lawyers' Act limits an employed lawyer who advises a non-firm employer to the affairs of that employer. Section 46a makes admission depend on the employment contract filed with the chamber. A lawyer employed by a personnel-leasing firm is employed by the lender. The user company can put that lawyer on the matter under the Personnel Leasing Act. It cannot, on the face of sections 46 and 46a, present that lawyer to the chamber as its own Syndikus. Leave cover, 5 of the 28, is the slice that usually needs the company's own fixed-term contract if the title on the door matters.
