In 15 closed in-house searches in Amsterdam over 36 months, our telemetry shows 11 offers went to lawyers already sitting inside a CASP or Article 60 bank legal team.
The day job is AFM and DNB notification and license files, Article 65 passporting and entity mapping, DORA ICT-outsourcing reviews before the AFM Portal upload, STOR and Transfer of Funds filings, market-abuse investigations with compliance, and safeguarding and on/off-ramp contracts. AFM's 2026 CASP-license page states a clock of at least five months, about 105 working days. AFM's 2026 CASP-notification page gives Article 60 completeness as 40 working days. AFM's 2026 DORA-notifications page requires an initial ICT-incident report 4 hours after classification and no later than 24 hours after detection, a follow-up at 72 hours, and a final report within one month.
A chief legal officer at a payments-adjacent CASP said the seat needed someone who had already lived through a passporting file, not a first-license pack.
This Amsterdam CASP counsel seat is a post-license conduct job.
Adjacent feeder seats are AFM-facing compliance and market-abuse officers, group second-line risk, bank regulatory counsel inside Article 60 credit institutions, MiFID OTF counsel, and combined legal-and-compliance leads. Bitvavo's Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer posting dated 3 September 2026 names MiCAR and DORA. Its Senior Market Abuse Officer listing of 5 August 2026 covers MiCAR and MiFID II trading and STOR filings. Neither is a counsel title. A CV that only shows a first license pack, or a banking file with no CASP overlay, is the miss a head of legal should refuse.
