›Lateral partner recruiting Orlando
For lateral partner recruiting Orlando, the work is single-seat hospitality, healthcare and construction. BLS May 2025 OEWS data put the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford lawyer median at $136,970. The Florida Bar counted 98,680 lawyers eligible to practice on 30 September 2026. NALP's May 2026 Bulletin+ put the 2025 Southeast office-specific partner-lateral average at 0.9, down 3.3 percent. On the Tampa partner line, the nearest Sartori city row, we closed 13 partner searches in three years. A regional full-service firm in Orlando hired a healthcare partner in 5 months.
01 — The brief answer
Orlando is not the Miami lateral cell
For lateral partner recruiting Orlando, the binding constraint is a portable book that survives an operator, a health system or a developer, not a Miami-style influx of national offices. NALP's May 2026 Bulletin+ does not publish an Orlando city row. The nearest Florida office cell is Miami/Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach: 0.5 lateral partners per reporting office in 2025, down 16.7 percent, across 11 offices. Pasting that average onto Orange County misreads the brief.
Sartori has worked the Tampa partner line for 5 years. Over the trailing three years that line closed 13 partner searches at a 93 percent completion rate, with a median of 5 months inside a 4-to-7-month band. Orlando has no separate closed-search count. The city hub is legal recruiters in Orlando. The parent method is lateral partner recruiting.
O*NET's reprint of Bureau of Labor Statistics 2025 wage data puts the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford lawyer median at $136,970. The same table puts Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater at $127,490 and Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach at $160,320. Orlando sits $9,480 above Tampa and $23,350 below Miami. Those gaps are wage-and-salary medians for SOC 23-1011, not partner draws.

02 — The local market
What the Orlando bench actually is
The May 2025 BLS release for the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metropolitan area, last modified 7 July 2026, put the legal occupational group's mean hourly wage at $51.13, against a United States legal-group mean of $67.07. Legal occupations were 0.9 percent of local employment and 0.8 percent nationally. The metro in that release is Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. The detailed lawyer wage cell is a different cut: O*NET, citing BLS 2025 wage data, shows an Orlando lawyer median of $136,970, a 10th percentile of $78,770, a 25th of $99,750, a 75th of $179,310 and a 90th of $265,810.
Employment for the detailed occupation is on an older official table. The May 2023 BLS OEWS estimates for Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford counted 5,790 lawyers, with a mean annual wage of $148,990, a mean hourly wage of $71.63 and a location quotient of 0.88. That 2023 mean is not the 2025 median, and neither figure is an equity-partner profit share. A hiring committee that treats $136,970 as the price of a portable hospitality book is reading the wrong row.
Sartori maps roughly 5,000 lawyers in Tampa. That coverage figure is the nearest city row, not an Orlando headcount. The Florida Bar's roster report as of 30 September 2026 counted 98,680 lawyers eligible to practice, of whom 82,422 (84 percent) were located in Florida, 100,680 members in good standing and 116,125 total members. Circuit 09 on the Bar's membership-data form revised 24 June 2026 is Orange and Osceola counties. Statewide license stock is not the partner shortlist.
Demand that actually produces a partner brief clusters where the client will not follow a logo. Theme-park and resort operators, vacation-ownership and timeshare platforms, hospital systems, and the contractors who build for them generate panels that outlast a guarantee. Greenberg Traurig states that its Orlando office opened in 1995 and lists hospitality, real estate, commercial and construction, corporate, labor and employment, litigation and timeshare among the practices it staffs there. Those labels match the seats firms ask us to underwrite. They do not, by themselves, tell you whose book moves.
Across 250 structured interviews on the Tampa partner line, 22 had their largest origination with an Orlando hospitality operator, health system or construction client. Of those 22, 14 said, over 24 months, that they would reject a platform that raised cash by under 12 percent if the move broke that client team. A hiring partner at a Florida-founded full-service firm in Orlando told us, The operator panel ate more committee time than the cash. Once the conflicts grid named the parks and the health system, two names came off and the third could actually start.
03 — Mandates we run
Three seats, not a group lift
The files that close are single seats. A group lift dies when the operator, the hospital or the developer will not retender the panel for a logo change. Sartori's Tampa partner-line telemetry on 13 closed searches records a 44 percent counter-offer incidence on accepted shortlist candidates. The median from written offer to acceptance on that line is 15 working days. Those two figures are the nearest city row. They are not a second Orlando census.
Healthcare seats move when the partner, not the platform, holds the system relationship. A regional full-service firm in Orlando hired a healthcare partner in 5 months, with underwritten portable originations of $4 million. Two health-system panels knocked the first shortlist down before a second interview. The offer letter named client-credit rules before resignation.
Hospitality and timeshare seats move when the book is operator work, not a marketing slide about tourism. One national firm adding an Orlando hospitality seat closed in 6 months. The complication was a shared origination with a Tampa office on the same resort account. Verification kept the Orlando-billed matters and dropped the rest.
Construction seats move on lien, defect and public-bid work tied to Central Florida projects. A Florida-founded firm closed a construction partner in 4 months, at the short end of the 4-to-7-month band. The gate was a non-solicit that covered the general contractor, not a cash gap. A practice chair at a regional litigation group in Orlando told us, We did not need a group. We needed one construction partner whose lien docket was theirs, not the Tampa office's. These three files illustrate shape and timing. They do not create a closed-search total separate from the 13.
04 — Compensation
Partner cash is not the lawyer median
Orlando partner packages are underwritten against portable originations, guarantee length and capital, not against the $136,970 May 2025 lawyer median. That median, from BLS 2025 wage data via O*NET, covers wage-and-salary lawyers. Equity residuals live on a different instrument. David Lat's 30 April 2026 readout of the 2026 Am Law 100, covering calendar 2025, put average profits per equity partner at $3.59 million, up 14.0 percent, gross revenue at $178.95 billion, up 13.0 percent, and revenue per lawyer at $1.39 million, up 8.7 percent. Attorney headcount was 128,868, up about 4 percent, with nonequity ranks up almost 7 percent and equity ranks up 2 percent. Those are national Am Law 100 ratios. They are the ceiling conversation, not the Orlando draw.
Florida has no individual income tax in 2026, according to the Tax Foundation's 2026 state income-tax table. A printed guarantee therefore clears without a state wage layer that New York or California still applies. Candidates still compare client-credit rules and capital calls before they compare the missing state tax. On the Tampa partner line, counter-offers landed on 44 percent of accepted shortlist candidates, and the median offer-to-acceptance window was 15 working days. A guarantee that ignores that window is a resignation that walks back.
The search is retained only. The fee is 25–30 percent of the hire's total first-year compensation, and 30 percent of the fee is paid as a retainer at engagement and kept if the client cancels. Cash context for the state, including the Orlando, Tampa and Miami May 2025 medians, is on lawyer salary in Florida in 2026. National equity and nonequity structure is on law firm partner salary in 2026 and equity partner salary in 2026. A company hiring its own counsel, rather than a firm hiring a partner, starts at in-house legal recruiters in Orlando.

05 — Live market
National partner laterals rose. Orlando was not measured.
NALP's May 2026 Bulletin+ recorded 3,535 lateral hires in 2025 at 305 offices that reported both years, up 16.4 percent. Lateral partners were 787 of that total, up 17.8 percent, and 22.3 percent of all laterals. Associates were up 17.1 percent. Growth was not uniform. Southeast office-specific reporting, 68 offices, showed a partner average of 0.9 and a 3.3 percent decline in partner laterals. Miami/Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach, 11 offices, averaged 0.5 lateral partners, down 16.7 percent. Orlando does not appear as its own line. Using the Miami decline as an Orlando demand forecast is a category error.
What we see on briefs is narrower than the national percentage. Firms want one partner whose Orlando client will move, in hospitality, healthcare or construction, and they want the conflicts answer before the partnership vote. The nearest published partner-search pages are lateral partner recruiting in Tampa and lateral partner recruiting in Miami. Tampa is the city row used for Sartori's own counts. Miami is the NALP cell people reach for when they cannot find Orlando.
A soft NALP cell and a live single-seat brief can exist in the same quarter. The 0.5 Miami partner average is an office mean across 11 reporting offices in 2025. It does not say that an Orlando health-system relationship is unsellable. It says the public series will not price that relationship for you. Wage employment and bar membership are a third cut again. The May 2023 BLS table counted 5,790 wage-and-salary lawyers in the metro. The Florida Bar's 30 September 2026 roster counted 98,680 lawyers eligible to practice statewide, not in Orange County alone. A partner search that starts from either headline, without a conflicts grid, is still a list.
06 — Methodology
How an Orlando partner search is run
- 01 — Brief Mandate, portable-revenue band and conflicts frame agreed in writing.
- 02 — Market map The addressable partner set, from coverage, not from whoever is in motion.
- 03 — Approach Confidential conversations. Names move only after interest and a first book read.
- 04 — Shortlist Underwritten candidates, with matter ownership separated from platform credit.
- 05 — Offer Guarantee, client-credit rules and counter-offer plan inside the firm's authority.
- 06 — Close Resignation, notice and the first hundred days.
The map starts from Sartori's research programme, which covers 1,480,000+ lawyers, and from 2,600+ partner conversations. City coverage quoted with these Orlando briefs is the Tampa row: roughly 5,000 lawyers mapped. The interview cohort on that same row is 250 structured interviews, and it is the only interview count cited here. Conflicts on operator, health-system and developer panels run before a partnership committee spends a round. Book verification uses three years of matter lists, and shared credit with a Tampa or Miami office is stripped before a guarantee is drafted.
Close support includes the counter-offer. On this line that incidence is 44 percent, and the acceptance window is 15 working days once the economics are written. We stay through resignation and a 90-day check on which clients actually arrived. The same 250 interviews are the only cohort cited above. Method and cohort definitions sit on the research programme.

08 — Questions
Lateral partner recruiting in Orlando — common questions

No independent ranking of lateral partner recruiters in Orlando exists, so the test is coverage, method and searches closed. Orlando is not a city Sartori counts on its own. The nearest count is the Tampa partner line: 13 closed partner searches over three years, a 93 percent completion rate, and a median of 5 months. Sartori maps roughly 5,000 lawyers in Tampa. The research method is on the research programme.
How long does lateral partner recruiting in Orlando take?
The median on the Tampa partner line is 5 months, inside a 4-to-7-month band. A healthcare partner file for a regional full-service firm in Orlando closed in 5 months. A hospitality file closed in 6 months and a construction file in 4 months. NALP does not publish an Orlando office clock.
What is the May 2025 lawyer wage in Orlando?
The May 2025 BLS wage cell for lawyers in Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford has a median of $136,970. The 10th percentile is $78,770 and the 90th is $265,810. That cell mixes associates, partners, government lawyers and in-house counsel. It is not an equity-partner draw. The state table is on lawyer salary in Florida in 2026.
Is Orlando the same lateral market as Miami?
No. NALP's May 2026 Bulletin+ has no Orlando city cell. Miami/Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach averaged 0.5 lateral partners per reporting office in 2025, down 16.7 percent, across 11 offices. The Orlando May 2025 lawyer median was $136,970, which is $23,350 below Miami and $9,480 above Tampa. The Miami search page is lateral partner recruiting in Miami.
Which Orlando practices show up on partner briefs?
Hospitality, healthcare and construction are the seats, not multi-partner group lifts. Greenberg Traurig states that its Orlando office opened in 1995 and lists those practices among the ones it staffs. Across 250 Tampa-line interviews, 14 of 22 partners with an Orlando operator, health-system or construction book said they would reject a cash increase under 12 percent that broke the client team.
What does a retained Orlando partner search cost?
The search is retained only. The fee is 25–30 percent of the hire's total first-year compensation, and 30 percent of the fee is paid as a retainer at engagement.
