Companies hire in house legal recruiters Berlin when a general counsel or a chief executive needs counsel the company does not already know. Sartori & Partners has completed 400+ placements since 2017 (230+ in-house), including 52 general counsel and chief legal officer searches. Those searches reach a shortlist in 24 days and an accepted offer in a median of 11 weeks. A NASDAQ-listed medtech in Boston hired its successor general counsel in week 11. On 1 January 2026 the Berlin chamber counted 609 pure Syndikusrechtsanwälte (BRAK, table 14 April 2026).

01 — The brief answer

A Berlin hire is a group payroll, an admission, and a month-end.

A chief executive in Berlin is usually hiring into one of four shapes. The shape is a state-owned rail group whose management sits in the city, a listed platform whose parent company is registered here, a pharmaceuticals campus that steers a global division from Berlin while the group headquarters sits somewhere else, or a firm office whose year-1 cash the candidate can stay on. The counsel the company wants is often already inside one of those shapes, admitted for a different employing company, and bound to a notice that ends on a month-end or a quarter-end.

That is the work in-house counsel recruiting is retained to do here. Sartori & Partners was founded in early 2017 by Lorenzo Sartori. The figures in the grid are the firm-wide corporate record, the same figures on the case studies. The 52 general counsel searches are that firm-wide count since 2017. Berlin is not a row in the program city table. The nearest in-house row is Frankfurt, and it is kept separate below. Private-practice context for the city is on legal recruitment in Berlin.

02 — Employers and sectors

A rail holding, three listed parents, and a pharmaceuticals campus.

Deutsche Bahn’s 2025 Geschäftsbericht is the largest payroll that publishes from this city. Group revenue was EUR 26,985 million in 2025, up from EUR 26,203 million. Employees stood at 219,152 full-time equivalents on 31 December 2025, down from 225,560. The report places group management in Berlin and lists Recht among the central functions of the holding, together with personnel, finance, and group development. The sale of DB Schenker was completed on 30 April 2025. From 1 January 2026 the management board has six departments, down from eight, after the Infrastructure department and the Digitalization and Technology department were dissolved and their work moved to the others. The same report states that the Personnel and Legal board department continues from that date. A counsel search against that headcount is a search in a group that employed 6,408 fewer full-time equivalents at year-end and that has just redrawn the board. The brief should say whether the seat replaces someone, follows a function into a new department, or covers a file the smaller workforce still has to staff. The report does not print a euro for counsel. The published year-1 cell is a different source, and it sits in the compensation section.

Zalando’s 2025 annual report is signed in Berlin on 10 March 2026. Revenue was EUR 12,346.1 million, up from EUR 10,572.5 million. Gross merchandise volume was EUR 17,560.2 million, up from EUR 15,311.3 million. Average employees were 16,582, up from 15,309. Adjusted EBIT was EUR 591 million, up from EUR 511 million. The report does not print a headcount for the legal department and does not print a salary for counsel. What it does print is a Berlin-signed parent company large enough to keep a standing legal function, with revenue and headcount both up in the same year. A mandate that assumes the legal team shrank because a peer platform cut couriers is using the wrong employer.

Delivery Hero SE is seated in Berlin. The 2025 group report puts gross merchandise value at EUR 49,196.8 million and segment revenue at EUR 14,803.4 million, up from EUR 12,796.4 million. Adjusted EBITDA was EUR 903.0 million, up from EUR 692.5 million. Average employees rose from 42,863 in 2024 to 51,073 in 2025. Headcount at 31 December 2025 was 54,721, from 42,711. The report attributes the increase mainly to Spanish couriers moved onto employment contracts, against reductions elsewhere. That is a group workforce fact. It is not a Berlin legal-department fact. The parent company’s own HGB statements are a second cut: the SE averaged 3,941 employees in 2025. A search aimed at “Delivery Hero counsel in Berlin” has to name which of those two numbers employs the lawyer. The admission, the notice, and the works council follow the employing company.

HelloFresh SE makes the employing-company test easier to see, because the filing is the parent and it names the function. The company is registered in Berlin at Amtsgericht Charlottenburg, HRB 182382 B. In 2025 it averaged 1,371 employees, down from 1,517. The same filing says management services for the subsidiaries are performed by central functions, and it names the legal department alongside IT and finance. That 1,371 is the parent-company average. It is not the group. A counsel seat on that payroll is a seat in a Berlin company whose own headcount fell by 146 on the average, and whose legal work is described as a central function rather than a local operating desk. The filing does not print a euro for that function.

Bayer’s Berlin site is a campus, not the registered group headquarters. The company’s Berlin page states about 5,000 employees and says the global activities of the Pharmaceuticals division are steered from Berlin. The annual report lists Berlin as an administrative site, a pharmaceuticals research site, and a pharmaceuticals production site, and it lists Leverkusen as headquarters. Group sales in the 2025 report’s highlight were EUR 45.6 billion. The sustainability statement counts 89,237 employees in headcount and 88,078 full-time equivalents at 31 December 2025, of whom 19,600 were in Germany. A mandate aimed at “the Bayer general counsel in Berlin” may be aimed at division counsel on a Berlin campus, or at a group officer whose contract is signed for a different company. The offer has to name the employing entity before anyone is called. The Berlin page’s “about 5,000” is the site. It is not a legal-department census, and the page does not date the figure beyond the company’s own wording.

The admission stock is the chamber, and for Berlin the chamber is the city-state. The BRAK Mitgliederstatistik, reference date 1 January 2026, table stand 14 April 2026, counts 15,096 natural persons at the Rechtsanwaltskammer Berlin, of whom 5,552 are women. Inside that figure, 1,611 hold both a Rechtsanwalt admission and a Syndikus admission (730 women), 609 are pure Syndikusrechtsanwälte (346 women), and 12,876 are admitted only as Rechtsanwalt (4,476 women). Adding the three admission columns returns 15,096. Adding the dual and pure-syndicus columns gives 2,220 lawyers who can hold a Syndikus admission. The professional-practice companies (Berufsausübungsgesellschaften) on that row number 507. All members of every category number 15,617. The 15,617 is the membership total. It is not a second count of natural persons. Nationwide the same table counts 167,547 natural persons, 20,848 dual admissions, 8,279 pure Syndikusrechtsanwälte, up 9.15 percent on the year, 138,420 lawyers admitted only as Rechtsanwalt, and 173,504 members of every category. Berlin’s 609 pure syndici are the in-house pool that holds no parallel private-practice admission. The 1,611 dual admissions are the pool that can sign the pleadings a pure syndicus cannot.

The research program maps 1,480,000+ lawyers and has run since 2019. Berlin has no separate closed-search row in that table. The nearest in-house row is Frankfurt: 5,000 lawyers mapped, a cohort of 250 structured interviews, and 17 closed in-house searches over three years. Those three figures are Frankfurt’s. They are cited so a Berlin brief does not invent a fourth. Company-side bands are on the Germany in-house salary page. The head-of-legal band is on general counsel salary in Germany, 2026. Firm-side bands are on lawyer salary in Germany, 2026. A mandate whose employer, chamber, and notice are Frankfurt’s belongs on in-house counsel recruiting in Frankfurt. Munich’s employers are on in-house counsel recruiting in Munich.

03 — Admission

The Syndikus admission names one employer. A Berlin group has several.

Section 46 of the Federal Lawyers’ Act (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung) is the licensing rule for this hire when the work is practiced as a lawyer. Legal work inside a company, done as a lawyer, is the practice of a Syndikusrechtsanwalt. The lawyer needs the admission in section 46a. Independence has to exist in the contract and in the way the job is actually done. Section 46 limits the advice to the employer, and the employer includes affiliates under section 15 of the Stock Corporation Act. Counsel employed by the holding company can cover the subsidiaries that fall inside that affiliate test. A contract with one sister company does not, by itself, authorize the same lawyer to advise the next sister company. Delivery Hero’s two headcounts, and Bayer’s split between a Berlin campus and a Leverkusen headquarters, are the reason the employing entity is the first line of the brief.

Section 46b is the rule that moves the start date. The admission granted for one employment does not cover the next. Subsection 3 says that if the lawyer takes up a further employment as a Syndikusrechtsanwalt, or if the activity inside an existing employment changes in a material way, the admission is extended to that employment or that activity only on application, under the tests in section 46a. Subsection 4 requires the lawyer to notify the chamber at once of a new employment and of any material change, and to file a copy of the new contract. A candidate who is already a Syndikusrechtsanwalt at Deutsche Bahn, at a Berlin platform, or at a firm that also holds a syndicus admission still needs that application before the new employment is covered. The chamber decides the extension. The company cannot confer the title in the offer letter. Garden leave and a signed offer leave the filing still to be made.

Section 46c sets the court boundary. A Syndikusrechtsanwalt may not represent the employer in civil proceedings that require a lawyer, and may not act as defense counsel in criminal or regulatory proceedings brought against the employer. Day-to-day commercial advice, the board pack, the works-council negotiation, and the management of outside counsel sit on the allowed side of that line. Signing the pleadings does not. Dual admission, as Rechtsanwalt and as Syndikusrechtsanwalt, is the bridge when the company wants its own employee to have the right to appear that the pure syndicus lacks. The Berlin chamber’s 1,611 dual admissions and 609 pure syndici are the two pools. Most in-house seats need the syndicus admission. The seats that also need to sign pleadings need both. The 12,876 lawyers admitted only as Rechtsanwalt are a private-practice pool until an in-house admission is granted.

Berlin adds a second licensing fact that a Cologne insurer payroll rarely has. A large share of commercial counsel at the platforms are qualified in another country and employed to draft in English. That qualification is not a German Syndikus admission. Section 46a is a German chamber decision. If the seat must advise as a lawyer for the employing company, use the title, and carry the rights that follow the admission, the brief asks for the German admission or for a path to it. If the seat is commercial paper in English, with outside counsel instructed for reserved work, a foreign qualification can match the seat and the chamber filing is not the gate. The scorecard has to say which of those two seats is being hired. Treating them as one title is how a start date slips.

The NIS-2 implementation act is the 2026 regulatory file that sits on top of that choice. The BSI’s press release of 5 December 2025 said the act would enter into force the next day. The Federal Government, on 8 December 2025, confirmed that it took effect on 6 December 2025. The BSI put the new perimeter at about 29,500 entities, against about 4,500 previously regulated. Registration, incident reporting, and documented risk management are the duties. A Berlin platform, a rail infrastructure company, and a pharmaceuticals manufacturer can each fall inside that perimeter for different reasons. The counsel who owns the registration is not automatically the counsel who owns the customer contract. The brief should say which file the seat holds.

The scorecard in week one, before any name is discussed, is short.

  • Employing entity. Which company signs the contract, and which affiliates under section 15 of the Stock Corporation Act the advice must cover. For a group that publishes two headcounts, the scorecard names the company that pays.
  • Current admission. Rechtsanwalt only, Syndikusrechtsanwalt only, both, or a qualification from another country with no German admission. The 12,876 lawyers in the chamber admitted only as Rechtsanwalt need a new in-house admission before reserved work starts.
  • Extension. Section 46b(3) has to be filed for the new contract, and section 46b(4) requires the notice and the copy. The start date assumes the extension is effective, or it assumes a period in which the lawyer cannot yet do the reserved work.
  • Court work. If the employee must sign pleadings, dual admission is the requirement. If outside counsel will sign them, a pure syndicus admission matches the seat.
  • Language of the file. German for the chamber, the works council, and the local courts. English where the parent, the platform terms, or the credit agreement drafts in English. The brief should say which documents the counsel must mark, line by line.

04 — Notice, the council, and the clock

Acceptance ends the search. Notice and §46b open the next morning.

Across the 52 general counsel and chief legal officer searches since 2017, the shortlist arrives in 24 days on average and the accepted offer in a median of 11 weeks, with a range of 8 to 16. Senior and specialist counsel, a book of 87, reach a shortlist in 18 days and an accepted offer in 8 weeks. Deputy general counsel and head of legal, a book of 47, run to a 21-day shortlist and 10 weeks to offer. Berlin does not have its own closed-search count. The nearest program row is Frankfurt’s in-house book: 17 closed searches over three years, worked for 8 years, completed at 93 percent, with a median of 12 weeks. From written offer to acceptance, those 17 files ran 15 working days. A counter-offer arrived on 32 percent of them. The 12 weeks sit inside the general-counsel range of 8 to 16. They are not the median on the 52, which remains 11 weeks. They are not a Berlin result.

Section 622 of the Civil Code is the notice floor. An employee may be terminated, and may terminate, on four weeks’ notice to the 15th or to the end of a calendar month. During an agreed probationary period of up to six months, notice is two weeks. For a termination by the employer, notice lengthens with service in the business, and it runs to the end of a calendar month: one month after two years, two months after five years, three months after eight, four months after ten, five months after twelve, six months after fifteen, and seven months after twenty. Individual contracts may agree a longer period, and the start date has to be read from that agreement. The notice the employee must give cannot be longer than the notice the employer must give. The statutory four weeks is the floor when the contract sets nothing longer.

The works council has its own week. In a business that generally has more than 20 eligible employees, section 99 of the Works Constitution Act requires the employer to inform the works council before every hire, to produce the application documents, and to obtain consent. A refusal has to be written, with reasons, within one week of the notice, or consent is deemed given. The employer may ask the labor court to substitute consent. Section 5(3) takes executive employees (leitende Angestellte), as that subsection defines them, outside the Act. Whether the person being hired is an executive employee is decided on that contract, not on the title general counsel. Deutsche Bahn’s 219,152 full-time equivalents, Zalando’s average of 16,582, and HelloFresh SE’s average of 1,371 each clear the 20-employee threshold. The question on those payrolls is the executive-employee test, and it is decided on the contract of the person being hired.

A post-contractual non-compete is section 74 of the Commercial Code. It has to be in writing. The employer has to hand the employee a signed copy. It binds the employee only if the employer pays, for each year of the restriction, compensation of at least half the contractual benefits the employee last received. A restriction the company will not compensate should come out of the draft before the candidate resigns. The candidate’s existing restriction is read the same way. If the current employer is paying, or will have to pay, the lawyer may be barred from the new seat for the period the clause actually covers. That text is read before a resignation date is set.

Where the permanent seat cannot wait on contractual notice plus a section 46b filing, interim cover is a separate book. Across 60+ interim and fractional engagements since 2017, counted outside the 400+ placements (230+ in-house), the median from first call to start is 7 days. One published file, an interim general counsel for a Series C fintech in San Francisco, was live on day 6. That is cover while the permanent search runs. It is described on interim and fractional legal talent. The Syndikus admission remains a filing for the permanent seat.

The 15 working days are the offer step on the Frankfurt files. The 11 weeks are the firm-wide general counsel median from signed brief to accepted offer. Notice and the admission extension run after acceptance. Berlin has no third clock of its own in the program table.

05 — Compensation

The published Berlin firm cell sits above the national syndicus mean. The rail group’s year-1 cell sits below it.

Three instruments get confused in a Berlin compensation committee, and they answer three different questions. BRAK-Mitteilungen 3/2026, reporting STAR 2025, states that full-time Syndikusrechtsanwälte averaged EUR 132,000 gross in Wirtschaftsjahr 2024, up from EUR 127,000 in 2022. Full-time syndici in western Germany averaged EUR 134,000, from EUR 129,000 in 2022. In the new federal states the same cut was EUR 102,000, from EUR 86,000. STAR 2025 counts the Berlin chamber with the western chambers, so the EUR 102,000 eastern figure does not apply to it. The EUR 134,000 is the western full-time mean, not a Berlin offer. The survey asked about 2024. Those are national and regional means across seniorities. They are the full-time cut. They are not a Berlin offer, and they are not a general-counsel package.

The local company cells that azur prints, Stand August 2026, are year-1 cash. Deutsche Bahn is EUR 80,000 to EUR 91,000. Bayer is EUR 71,500 to EUR 102,000. Years 2 and 3 for Deutsche Bahn are blank on that table. Both cells are the employer’s scale, not a municipal average, and neither is a general-counsel number. The top of the Deutsche Bahn year-1 band, EUR 91,000, is EUR 41,000 under the full-time syndicus mean of EUR 132,000 and EUR 43,000 under the western full-time mean of EUR 134,000. A board that budgets the rail group’s entry cell for a counsel who already earns the full-time mean is pricing a different seniority.

The firm cell that actually sits in Berlin is printed, and it is above those means. The azur100 2026 profile for White & Case, dated 19 March 2026, lists year-1 associates at EUR 160,000 plus a bonus of up to EUR 48,000. The firm’s Germany page names offices in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Hamburg. The LTO employer profile for Hengeler Mueller lists year 1 at EUR 150,000, plus a one-off EUR 10,000 where the lawyer holds an LL.M. azur lists Hengeler offices in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich. Year 1 at EUR 160,000 is EUR 28,000 above the full-time syndicus mean of EUR 132,000 and EUR 69,000 above the top of the Deutsche Bahn year-1 band. Year 1 at EUR 150,000 is EUR 18,000 above EUR 132,000 and EUR 59,000 above EUR 91,000. A Berlin company that assumes every company offer is a large step up from the local US firm is pricing a different city. The gap here runs the other way at year 1. What a general counsel at these employers is paid is still missing: the Deutsche Bahn report, the Zalando report, the Delivery Hero report, and the HelloFresh filing do not print a euro base for the officer.

The retained fee is a percentage of whatever number the board lands on. The fee is 25–30 percent of the hire’s total first-year compensation. Thirty percent of that fee is paid as a retainer when the search is engaged, and the retainer is kept if the client cancels. A GC, CLO, or CCO search carries a 12-month replacement term. Other in-house searches carry 6 months. Off-limits on the client’s legal department run 24 months, and a lawyer we have placed is not approached for as long as they stay. Offer acceptance on corporate mandates is 96 percent. Retained corporate mandates complete at 92 percent. Retention of placed in-house leaders is 97 percent at 12 months and 91 percent at 24 months. Repeat clients or referrals account for 68 percent of corporate mandates. Those rates are the corporate record since 2017. They are the terms in the letter before anyone is called.

The salary pages carry the rest of the arithmetic. In-house counsel salary in Germany, 2026 is the company-side band. General counsel salary in Germany, 2026 is the head-of-legal band. Lawyer salary in Germany, 2026 is the firm-side band the candidate can stay in. A Frankfurt comparison is on in-house counsel salary in Frankfurt, 2026. A Berlin offer uses the German bands, then sets them next to Deutsche Bahn’s EUR 80,000–91,000, Bayer’s EUR 71,500–102,000, Hengeler’s EUR 150,000, and White & Case’s EUR 160,000.

Hiring in Berlin?

Name the employing company, the admission, and the notice before the person.

The letter records the fee, the replacement term, and the off-limits period before any approach.

06 — How a search runs

The same six steps. The Berlin work is which company employs the lawyer.

  1. 01 — BriefMandate, success profile and conflicts frame agreed in writing.
  2. 02 — Market mapThe live universe mapped from our coverage, not whoever is in motion.
  3. 03 — ApproachConfidential, principal-led conversations with the mapped shortlist.

The brief names the employing entity, the affiliates the advice must cover, and whether the counsel must sign pleadings or instruct someone who can. It names the admission the candidate must already hold and the section 46b filing the start date depends on. It names whether a foreign qualification, without a German admission, actually matches the documents. It names the notice law of the people most likely to be approached: contractual quarter-end, or the statutory four weeks, or something between them. It names whether section 99 applies, and whether the company will treat the general counsel as an executive employee under section 5(3). For a platform whose group headcount and parent-company headcount disagree, the brief names the company that will sign the contract. The fee letter goes out with that page. Conflicts are checked before outreach. The approach stays blind until both sides want a conversation.

Mapping uses the research program’s map of 1,480,000+ lawyers, cut to people who have held the relevant file in this city: the rail holding, a listed platform parent, the pharmaceuticals campus, or a Berlin office of a firm whose year-1 cash is published. For a general counsel, the published average to a shortlist is 24 days, on the 52. The offer is then built against the German salary pages and against the cells in section 05, with notice, the works council, and the Syndikus extension scheduled before the candidate resigns. Contractual notice plus a chamber filing is a planned gap. It is not a surprise discovered after acceptance. The Frankfurt row of 17 is the nearest evidence of how often a counter-offer arrives on a German in-house file. It is 32 percent of that row. It is not evidence that Berlin closes at the same rate.

07 — Published files

The clock is the corporate record. Berlin has no separate file in it.

The three files below are published case studies. They show the method and the dates. A Berlin general counsel brief is run on the same 52-search clock. It is not given a city median the program table does not contain. The general counsel median on the 52 remains 11 weeks.

General counsel and in-house counsel in Berlin

What do in house legal recruiters Berlin get hired to do?

A general counsel or a chief executive hires them when the company needs counsel it does not already know. A posting reaches lawyers who are looking. A retained search approaches counsel who are in post. Sartori & Partners has completed 400+ placements since 2017 (230+ in-house), including 52 general counsel and chief legal officer searches. Those searches reach a shortlist in 24 days and an accepted offer in a median of 11 weeks, with a range of 8 to 16. The city market sits on legal recruitment in Berlin. The practice is in-house counsel recruiting.

Which employers set the Berlin in-house market?

Deutsche Bahn’s 2025 report puts group revenue at EUR 26,985 million and 219,152 full-time employees at 31 December 2025, with group management in Berlin and Recht among the central functions. Zalando’s 2025 report, signed in Berlin on 10 March 2026, puts revenue at EUR 12,346.1 million and average headcount at 16,582. Delivery Hero’s 2025 group report, for an SE seated in Berlin, puts segment revenue at EUR 14,803.4 million and average headcount at 51,073. HelloFresh SE, registered in Berlin, averaged 1,371 employees in 2025 and names its legal department as a central function of that company. Bayer’s Berlin site page states about 5,000 employees and says the pharmaceuticals division is steered from Berlin. The registered group headquarters remains Leverkusen. Cash for the seat is on in-house counsel salary in Germany, 2026 and lawyer salary in Germany, 2026.

Does a Berlin in-house lawyer need a new Syndikus admission?

Yes when the employment changes and the seat is practiced as a lawyer. Section 46 of the Federal Lawyers’ Act makes in-house legal practice the work of a Syndikusrechtsanwalt, admitted under section 46a, and limits the advice to the employer, including affiliates under section 15 of the Stock Corporation Act. Section 46b(3) says a further employment, or a material change in the existing one, needs an application to extend the admission. Section 46b(4) requires immediate notice to the chamber and a copy of the new contract. Section 46c keeps the pure syndicus out of lawyer-reserved civil proceedings for the employer and out of defense counsel work in criminal or regulatory proceedings against the employer. A qualification from another country is not that admission. On 1 January 2026 the Berlin chamber counted 15,096 natural persons, 1,611 dual admissions, and 609 pure Syndikusrechtsanwälte (BRAK table, stand 14 April 2026). Statute: §46, §46b, §46c BRAO.

What notice and works-council step sit between acceptance and day one?

The search clock stops at the accepted offer. Section 622 of the Civil Code sets the employee’s notice at four weeks to the 15th or to month-end. During a probationary period of up to six months it is two weeks. The employer’s notice lengthens with tenure, to the end of a calendar month: one month after two years, two months after five, three after eight, four after ten, five after twelve, six after fifteen, and seven after twenty. A longer individual agreement is allowed. The employee’s notice cannot be longer than the employer’s. In a business that generally has more than 20 eligible employees, section 99 of the Works Constitution Act requires the employer to inform the works council before the hire, to produce the application documents, and to obtain consent. A refusal has to be in writing, with reasons, within one week, or consent is deemed given. Section 5(3) takes executive employees, as that section defines them, outside the Act. A general counsel often meets that test. A counsel seat often does not.

When does a company call general counsel recruiters Berlin?

When the seat is a general counsel, a chief legal officer, or the counsel who will report to one, and the company wants the approach made before the role is public. Across 52 general counsel and chief legal officer searches since 2017, the shortlist arrives in 24 days on average and the accepted offer in a median of 11 weeks, range 8 to 16. A NASDAQ-listed medtech in Boston hired its successor general counsel on that clock: a shortlist of four on day 24, accepted offer in week 11. Berlin is not a row in the program city table. The nearest in-house row is Frankfurt: 17 closed in-house searches over three years, a 12-week median, and 15 working days from written offer to acceptance. Those Frankfurt figures are not a Berlin count. The fee is 25–30 percent of total first-year compensation. Thirty percent of the fee is the retainer at engagement, and it is kept if the search is cancelled.

How should a board read the BRAK salary figure against a Berlin offer?

BRAK-Mitteilungen 3/2026, reporting STAR 2025 for Wirtschaftsjahr 2024, puts full-time Syndikusrechtsanwälte at EUR 132,000 gross, up from EUR 127,000 in 2022. Full-time syndici in western Germany averaged EUR 134,000. STAR 2025 counts the Berlin chamber with the western chambers, so the eastern full-time figure of EUR 102,000 does not apply. The western mean is not a Berlin offer. azur, Stand August 2026, puts Deutsche Bahn year-1 cash at EUR 80,000–91,000 and Bayer at EUR 71,500–102,000. Those are company cells, not a Berlin average. The azur100 2026 profile dated 19 March 2026 puts White & Case year-1 associates at EUR 160,000 plus a bonus of up to EUR 48,000. The firm’s Germany page lists Berlin among four offices. The LTO profile puts Hengeler Mueller year 1 at EUR 150,000, and azur lists a Berlin office for that firm. A Berlin offer is read against the company cell and against the firm cell the candidate can stay on. It is not read against the national mean alone.
